It's Hard to Believe, But it's True...I Am a Fairygodmother!

I was bestowed with this esteemed honour by Diann Vail and Louise Karch at the 2006 Annual Spring Women’s Conference and am now a member of a select group of women who do good deeds for our community.   

I was given $100.00 to grow and use toward a worthy cause.  My cause… 

The London Anti-Bullying Coalition 

This amazing group was started by two moms with one vision – to eliminate bullying. 

When I asked what they needed to help their cause, the answer was simple.  They would love to have a fridge magnet in the home of every family with a child in school in London and the Thames Valley District – that’s 35,000 families! 

I decided to put their request into action…

First I found a supplier to make the magnets at cost...that supplier was In Your Face Promotions.  Then I found a graphic artist, Walter Sayers, to provide the art work at no cost.

My company, Vantage One Writing, matched the Fairy Godmother contribution…and so did the magnet supplier.  Then I sent out a challenge to other businesses, friends, and basically everyone I knew...and the response was amazing.  In less than three weeks, I collected the funds required to pay for the magnets, nearly $3,000.00, which will help educate families on the steps required to take to eliminate this epidemic.

The magnets will be presented to representatives from the London District Catholic School Board and the Thames Valley District School Board on Friday, September 8, 2006 for distribution to the schools.   Thank you to everyone who supported this cause.  If you would like to find out about other ways to help the London Anti-Bullying Coalition, please visit their Web site at www.londonabc.com.
